Yesterday I was sitting in front of the computer enjoying I Can Has Cheezburger and waiting for Autumn to finish her dinner. Since there’s really nothing funnier than a bunch of cats with bad grammar and atrocious spelling, I found myself cracking up. A lot.
“What’s so funny?” asked Autumn. Her head was down and her attention was focused on her dinner as she casually acknowledged the laughter that had filled the room.
Nathan was surprised at the question and asked if he had heard it correctly. We always do this when Autumn says something new. We have to check with each other to make sure our ears hadn’t deceived us. Did she say that? Well I’ll be…
She recognizes her cousins now and expresses the desire to see them. She constantly asks to see her grandparents and their dog. In the morning she says she doesn’t want to go to daycare and can’t bear to leave there in the evening. She’ll hear someone burp, and before they can excuse themselves she’ll pipe in and say, “Excuse you!” She gets that one from me.
She loves music. She loves to sing. She loves Tinkerbell, Mickey Mouse and The Wiggles. Her most treasured possessions are a Spongebob blanket and a Pooh Bear. She takes them everywhere.
Three years ago she was just a cluster of cells no bigger than a tadpole. Now she sits in my lap to watch her favorite DVD or to listen to me read a story. She points to objects in the book and finds their real-life counterparts in our house. Clock. Lamp. Table. Chair. Phone. Just a few weeks ago everything was an apple. Now she knows oranges, grapes, tomatoes, broccoli and carrots.
We’re still working on our colors, but she’ll get them down before you know it. I’m quite sure.
I don’t know when the transition from baby to little person happened, but it really is remarkable.
That site is hilarious! Have you every seen http://www.cuteoverload.com? It’s very similar. You should check it out.
I know what you mean about the change from baby to little person. It truly is remarkable.
Heh. I love I Can Has Cheezburger?. It is silly and ridiculous and I cannot get enough. 😀
Now, on to Autumn…those new sentences the kids come up with are pretty awesome. For weeks and weeks Bean has been saying “Zit down!” when he wants us to sit down and play with him, in a most imperious and adorable manner.
Love. Them.
